Vimont reports upon "the founding of Montreal, the capture of Father Jogues by the Iroquois, and the increasing trouble from Iroquois raids," and Lalemant's Huron section notes "increasing hostility of the Iroquois who are obtaining firearms from the Dutch in New Amsterdam"--Bell, Jesuit Relations 20.
